說明	魯道夫.施泰納建議孩子接觸的第一項樂器是吹管樂器，它的樂音是由我們自身的呼吸所形成的．直笛因此是華德福教育的絕佳選擇：幼年階段，直笛的結構簡單，也相對容易上手，孩子可以很快學會，因此是理想的學習媒介－－開始要學的是仔細聆聽聲音，手指的協調運動，呼吸和運舌等，最終的目標是學會識譜和更複雜的聽力技能，於是，伴隨著孩子的成長，他們可以學習尺寸更大的不同款式直接，可以組成合奏享受美好的音樂．多數的華德福學校都在國小階段引入弦樂器的學習，直笛和弦樂器可以搭配形成非常好的管弦樂團. 本書內容有為何要學直笛的說明，及各階段由幼兒到七八年級適合的樂譜，另外附錄有說明笛子的選購，左手如何學習，如何保養笛子等特別的問題.
