After working hard in the kitchen, and following
a good meal, Pico the gnome lowered his head on a
mossy pillow and his eyes shut fast. The stars
were shining over the trees and all was at peace
in the forest.
Softly a fairy emerged from the mist amongst the
meadow flowers and sang, weaving dreams around him:
Sweetly sleep, dreaming sleep,
Have no fear, have no care.
Let my song make you strong
For the day will bring dismay!
And, as Pico slept, a giant came from behind
the mountains and frightened all the animals and
birds. Pico awoke and saw the angry giant and ran
away at first. But when he saw the giant crashing
through the forest and scaring all the animals,
he decided to take action.
